While each Roseland piece has its own history and point of reference - from Shaker restraint to early American neoclassicism - they are united by a shared approach to proportion, material, and finish, making it natural to build a room that feels cohesive and layered without feeling overly uniform.

Our bedroom sets page allows you to mix and match from our collection and receive a bundled discount on the set. Please note, individual pieces ship directly from the workshops they were made in, meaning that shipments are not consolidated. Dressers and two-drawer nightstands automatically ship white glove, while for beds it is an optional upcharge. Nightstands and Candlestands ship free via UPS ground.

  • Solid American Hardwoods

Made with solid American cherry or black walnut, chosen for strength, warmth, and long-term durability. Boards are selected by hand for color, grain, and character, then finished to preserve the wood's natural texture.

  • Repairable Finish

Finished with a purified raw linseed oil that protects the wood while preserving its natural texture. With no stains or veneers, the surfaces can be easily repaired and renewed over time rather than replaced.

  • Dresser

Inspired by an 1825 double counter in the MET's archive, it features carefully selected single-slab drawer fronts.

  • Pediment Bed

Developed with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, a restrained 18th-century pediment form built in solid American cherry or walnut with a hand-rubbed linseed oil finish.

  • Nightstand

Based on late 18th-century Shaker designs, with subtle proportions and the same pure, raw linseed oil finish as our beds.

  • Candle Stand

Inspired by an early 1800s Shaker stand in the American Wing, this piece is built from solid American cherry with a single drawer and finished in purified linseed oil.

  • Two Drawer Nightstand

Grounded proportions. Single-board drawer fronts. Solid American hardwood, finished with hand-rubbed, solvent-free oil.

  • Roseland Bed

Timeless lines and fine-grade American cherry or walnut, finished by hand with 100% pure, raw, and zero-VOC linseed oil.

How Wood Changes with Time

Because we finish with just pure, raw linseed oil, wood is able to breathe and reach its natural tone. Shown here, Cherry deepens to a warm red-brown over 12 months, while Walnut gently lightens and softens with time.

Things to Know

Pieces from the bedroom set are made from solid woods and hand-finished surfaces, so a few practical points help set expectations.

Natural color shifts

Cherry wood starts light and darkens significantly in the first three months. From months 3 to 12, the darkening slows, reaching a deep, rich tone with red undertones. Walnut starts as a deep brown and gradually lightens over time. In the first three months walnut’s tone becomes warmer and lighter. From months 3 to 6, the change slows as it settles into a medium brown with golden or amber tones. In our opinion, the mature tones of both woods are preferable to the initial ones.

Linseed oil means a breathable, naturally coarser finish

Many furniture companies seal their wood with an additive layer that closes the grain and can be sanded to a near mirror finish - the lacquer or polyurethane is being sanded rather than the wood itself. With a breathable oil finish, the wood’s grain is exposed, which is naturally coarser than sanded polyurethane or lacquers.

Solid wood and humidity can mean seasonal movement

In winter, low humidity from furnace heat can lower the humidity content in the wood and dry it somewhat (dry desert environments can do this year round!). If you encounter creaks, the first thing to do is to lubricate the wood-on-wood joints of the bed with a beeswax furniture paste.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does everything ship together? How does everything ship?

We make different products with different vendors, so your whole order won't ship together.

Products will ship as ready, you can find more shipping information above in the dimensions section.

What are the lead times on each product?

Please check our "What to Expect" page to find our current up to date lead times.

Can I customize any part of this order?

We maintain a focused design catalogue to keep costs down and use materials responsibly, which allows us to offer the best possible pricing. As such, we’re not able to offer customizations.

Can I mix wood species for the bundle?

The bundle is setup to represent a whole order in the same species, if you would like to order separate species please email us at orders@roselandusa.com or message us through the chat function.

Are these products designed to go with each other?

Yes they are! We designed each of these products with each other in mind such that the height and other dimensions work with each other.

How much am I saving with the bundle?

The bundle saves 10% on an order of any bed, nightstand, and dresser.

Could I swap a martini table for one of the other side tables?

Yes you can! Please reach out to us directly and we will send you an invoice.

What type of mattress should I get? How tall should my mattress be?

We generally don't recommend any specific mattress brand as each individual has a different preference for their mattress. However, we do believe that a natural latex or wool mattress is the way to go.

We recommend mattresses between 8 inches and 13.5 inches thick. Any thicker and the headboard will feel out of proportion. For context, the mattresses in our shoots are mostly 11.5", with a 10" mattress visible in the more contemporary loft setting and 9.5" on the twin beds.

How do I care for the wood?

We generally recommend rubbing pure raw linseed oil on the wood if you ever find that it gets dry. Additionally for your bed, applying beeswax anywhere wood rubs against wood will help to prevent any form of creaking.

You can find the linseed oil we use for our beds here.
