The candle stand was the original American side table: small enough to move, tall enough to be useful, and light enough to sit beside a chair, sofa, or bed without crowding the room. Ours follows the classic form: a round top, a turned wine-bottle post made from a single stave, and three subtle paw-feet legs that give the piece its balance and lift.

Made by Jeff Puls in Missouri, from solid American cherry and finished in purified raw linseed oil. It will darken naturally with time and remain easy to repair for decades of use.

CraftedTimber, founded by Jeff Puls, blends traditional joinery with modern tools to make solid-wood furniture built for long use. Each piece reflects respect for the past and care for what comes next. Jeff donates a portion of his proceeds to support The Children’s Heart Foundation.

“I like that this early American reproduction reimagines familiar forms with unexpected proportions, making it a useful and unique conversation piece.” — Jeff Puls, CraftedTimber
  • SHAPED BY HAND

Three shaped legs meet the turned center post to create a base that feels both sturdy and light. Their sweeping profile is drawn from traditional American candlestands and carefully shaped to give the table its graceful stance.

  • Hand-Rubbed Finish

The table is finished in slow-drying, 100% purified raw linseed oil sourced from Dakota flax. This gives a matte, deepening, zero VOC finish that is also serviceable for life.

Heirloom Repair Warranty

We design our furniture to be repairable by you or by us. If you ever need help — from accident, wear, or age — we will do our best to repair it at direct cost. We do not profit from parts or repair work. As long as we are in business, we will do our best to keep your Roseland in use.
  • American Cherry

The candle stand is made from solid American cherry wood, sourced from eastern forests.

  • Zero VOC Finish

Purified linseed oil is a natural, historic finish made from Flaxseed. Ours is grown in the Dakotas and cold filtered in California. It can be re applied easily and allows for easy repair of dings and blemishes.

  • Ships Partially Assembled

The candle stand ships partially assembled. The top is attached with four bolts and the legs slot into place with a little force.

Because we finish with pure raw linseed oil, the wood remains open to light, air, and use. Cherry naturally deepens from a pale golden tone to a warm red-brown. The change is part of the material, and part of what makes each piece feel more settled over time.
  • FRESH CHERRY

Cherry begins pale and golden, with a clean, quiet grain. In the first months of use, light and air bring out its natural warmth and depth.

  • MATURE CHERRY

With time, cherry settles into a deeper red-brown tone. The grain becomes warmer and richer, giving the wood a more settled, lived-in character.

Things to Know

The candle stand is made with solid America cherry without lacquers, stains or fillers. Here are some things to know:

Cherry Darkens Over Time

Over time, the tannins inside Cherry oxidize and create the beautiful deep red tones that many are familiar with. The effect is noticeable inside the first two months of ownership but will continue over the years.

Minimal but Repairable Finish

Roseland chooses to finish wood the old fashioned way with penetrating oils - this is inherently less hardy than a spray-on lacquer or a polyurethane based finish. The upshot of this approach is inherent repairability - you can always sand-down damage and re-oil the table. After a brief period of oxidization, the tones will even out.

3% of Profits to Bring back the American Chestnut

At Roseland, we're passionate tree buffs and are committed to helping bring back the iconic American chestnut to its native range. We will donate 3% of all unit-level profits at the end of 2026 to the American Chestnut Foundation and other similar efforts.
