Roseland makes home goods that could have been made 100 years ago.

Our beds, tables, chairs, textiles, and other pieces are based on historical American designs and made by small family businesses using domestically sourced materials, traditional techniques, and natural finishes.

But the way we’re building the company is very different.

We believe a small generalist team - we’re currently 4 people -  equipped with excellent software and AI can accomplish what traditionally required a much larger organization. That lets us spend more of the customer’s dollar on the things that matter — refining our designs, domestically sourced materials and American manufacturing — and less on overhead.

We’re looking for an Operations Lead to become our 5th employee.

This role represents an opportunity to make your mark on a fast growing but still small company. 

You’ll report directly to the founder/ceo and have broad responsibility across the operating side of Roseland: vendor management, inventory, logistics, customer experience, purchasing, systems, and the processes connecting them. 

As part of our generalist philosophy, you will participate in customer experience, new product development and growth, aggressively seeking out opportunities for the business to grow thoughtfully and efficiently. 

You’ll work closely with our growth and customer experience leadership to make sure we deliver on the promises we make to customers. You will build relationships with our manufacturing & shipping partners and can expect monthly domestic travel across our supply chain. 

You’ll use technology to eliminate unnecessary work, automate repetitive tasks, and catch problems earlier.

This is also a physical business. You’ll need to work well with partners who use less technology than we do, and know when to push for a better process and when to work with what’s there.

Supply Chain 

  • Help evaluate and onboard new manufacturing partners as we grow.
  • Coordinate purchasing and ordering so that our capacities and inventories mirror our growth ambitions.  
  • Continue to nurture the strength of our vendor partnerships through travel, listening, and planning. 
  • Anticipate problems and solve them when they do occur.
  • Build better tools for visibility into what’s being made, what’s late, and what’s coming next

Delivery Logistics 

  • Build better systems for tracking every piece from workshop to the customer’s home
  • Own inventory accuracy across our warehouse and manufacturing network
  • Manage relationships with 3PLs, freight carriers, and delivery partners
  • Improve packaging and fulfillment
  • Reduce damage, storage, freight, and handling costs 

Build Automation Where Possible

We expect technology to let us do substantially more with a small team. We’d like you to bring ideas we haven’t thought of and take responsibility for making them work. That might include:

  • Using AI to streamline information processing that is currently manually tracked. 
  • Connecting Shopify, inventory, logistics, finance, and customer information.
  • Building simple internal tools where existing software falls short.

You don’t need to be a software engineer, but you should be curious about technology and comfortable figuring things out. We’d like to see something you’ve built and put to use.

who we’re looking for

Someone who is persistent, takes responsibility, and is open-minded. 

You should have a few years of relevant experience, with examples of meaningful operational problems you’ve solved. That experience might come from e-commerce, manufacturing, consulting, hospitality, or another business where you’ve had to make complicated things work.

We also appreciate the entrepreneurially curious.

Compensation

$90,000–$120,000 base salary, with a bonus target of around 25% annually. Final compensation will reflect experience and ability.
