Rolled Arm Sofa

The Rolled Arm Sofa is our return to one of the great comfortable forms of English upholstery.

The shape belongs to a long tradition of rooms built around proportion, conversation, and daily use. In Georgian and later English interiors, comfort was not treated as the opposite of formality. It came from scale, spring, upholstery, and a frame that held the body properly. By the nineteenth century, English upholstery houses had helped define the modern comfortable sofa: low rolled arms, a curved back, generous cushions, and a sit that was soft without losing its posture.

Our version begins there. It restores the qualities that made the form worth repeating in the first place: a visible curved back, lower rolled arms, full cushions, point-finished pleats, and a lifted, composed silhouette. It is traditional without becoming decorative, generous without becoming shapeless.

Inside, the sofa is rebuilt in the Roseland way, with traditional eight-way hand-tied construction, organic latex cushion cores, wool in key upholstery layers, and true 95:5 American feather/down. The legs are solid oak or walnut, hand-rubbed with oil, and the first fabric is a plain off-white American woven canvas chosen to show the form clearly.

The result is a rolled arm sofa with old-world comfort, a more legible material story, and the structure to be lived with for years.
