Inspired by an 1825 Shaker “Double Counter” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this dresser reflects the quiet restraint of early 19th-century Shaker design. Made from solid Cherry or Walnut, it has eight-and-one-quarter-inch single-slab drawer fronts for an uninterrupted feature of the wood grain.
The dovetailed drawer boxes are built from unfinished solid White Pine in the New England tradition, fitted with full-extension side-mount glides for smooth everyday use. Drawer bottoms are birch-veneered domestic plywood, and the back panel is tongue-and-grooved unfinished White Pine.
The exterior is finished with hand-rubbed raw linseed oil for a matte surface consistent with the rest of our bedroom furniture. Cherry will deepen in color over time, while Walnut will gradually lighten. Available in single or double bay configurations, each dresser is built for long service and easy repair. The classic proportions sit comfortably in both traditional and contemporary settings.
Photography of the single bay and Walnut versions will be added soon. Our manufacturing capacity will grow slowly over time and means stock will be limited - please refer to lead times as you purchase.

How Wood Changes with Time
-
FRESH CHERRY
Cherry begins pale and golden, with a clean, quiet grain. In the first months of use, light and air bring out its natural warmth and depth.
-
MATURE CHERRY
With time, cherry settles into a deeper red-brown tone. The grain becomes warmer and richer, giving the wood a more settled, lived-in character.
-
FRESH WALNUT
Fresh walnut begins dark and expressive, with cool brown tones and visible movement in the grain. At first, its color can feel more dramatic and varied.
-
MATURE WALNUT
With age, walnut gradually lightens toward a medium brown. The contrast softens, the undertones grow warmer, and the grain feels more settled over time.
Things to Know
At Roseland, we're proud to do things differently, from the way we source materials to the way we finish them. There are some important things we'd like you to know.
Wood tones change over time
Cherry will get substantially richer and darker over time depending on the UV exposure. Depending on UV exposure, it can take up to a year to reach the deep red that is so desirable. Walnut actually gets slightly lighter over time though it is less noticeable.
Linseed oil means a breathable, naturally coarser finish
Many furniture companies seal their wood with an additive layer that closes the grain and can be sanded to a near mirror finish - the lacquer or polyurethane is being sanded rather than the wood itself. With a breathable oil finish, the wood’s grain is exposed, which is naturally coarser than sanded polyurethane or lacquers.
$195 white glove shipping required
Roseland subsidizes white glove shipping to allow for an easier, lower-damage delivery experience. In the case of a return, we will charge $195 for the return shipping also.
3% of Profits to Bring back the American Chestnut
At Roseland, we're passionate tree buffs and are committed to helping bring back the iconic American chestnut to its native range. We will donate 3% of all unit-level profits at the end of 2026 to the American Chestnut Foundation and other similar efforts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it the same finish as the Roseland bed and nightstand.
Yes! we use the same pure, raw linseed oil as the bed and nightstand.
Does this pair well with the bed and nightstand?
Yes! though it is so classic and quiet in its proportions that it should be an asset to any room.
How deep is the dresser? / What are the drawer measurements?
The dresser measures 18 ¾ inches deep, with drawer boxes that are 32 ¼ inches wide, 7 inches tall, and 16 inches deep, providing ample storage space for clothing and everyday items.
How do I take care of the wood finish?
The wood finish is raw linseed oil which soaks into the wood grain vs. providing a surface-level finish. As the wood dries, you can re-oil every year to ensure a rich finish.
Linseed oil is minimally moisture protective, so please try and use coasters or equivalent for coffee cups etc.
A simple sanding at 200+ grit and re-application of linseed oil is all you need for addressing surface damage.
How does shipping work?
The dresser is too bulky to ship via parcel carriers. We ship the dresser with a White Glove service called Pilot Logistic.
Pilot picks up dressers directly from Green Gables and will contact you to schedule an in-home delivery appointment.
Why is there a restocking fee?
The dresser is expensive to ship - roughly $500 on average to ship White Glove (Roseland covers almost 2/3rds of this in the retail price).
Returns cost Roseland $600 in shipping as residential pick-up is a premium. We cover 2/3rds of this and charge the customer our standard $195 White Glove rate.
